Aerial Imagery

There is a lot more that can be done with our drones than you think!

Aerial Footage for Cinema and Property

Using a drone to get aerial footage is an inexpensive way to get a cinematic addition to your video. It is also a way to get a detailed view of an area that would normally only be accessible via helicopter or expensive scaffolding rig. This aerial footage can then be used as part of a full edit for something like a property advertisement, something to go on an estate agents website or a website like RightMove.

Aerial Footage for Building Inspection

We film in 4K and take RAW photos which means our footage is extremely high quality. This high quality footage can be used to examine certain areas of a building or area that requires an inspection. Instead of getting an expensive scaffolding rig set up to examine a chimney you can hire us to fly next to the chimney get the required footage which can then be analysed and examined by an expert in their own time without a huge cost to you. We use a chimney inspection as an example, we can film nearly anything that requires an inspection.

3D Mapping and Planning

Colour Media can take the building inspection footage a lot further. We are able to create a map of a specific area and a 3D model, all using advanced technology in our drone systems. Unlike Google maps where images are taken from satellites in space, we fly the drone over an area to get an extremely detailed map view. Below you can see an example of the difference in quality with our Drone Mapping Systems compared to Google Maps.

Google Maps vs Drone Mapping

When we create a map our system is also able to create a 3D model of the area, allowing you to zoom in look around, see ground elevation etc. This 3D model can be embedded into any website and shared between teams. This is useful when collaborating on a construction project, teams from around the world can get a much better view of what is happening on site, prospective house buyers can get a better view of the house they are going to buy and the surrounding area, the applications for the 3D model are endless. Below is a screenshot of a 3D model as well as an embedded version which you can look around.

NDVI Mapping

Colour Media can also produce an NDVI map of an area for agricultural use. This is typically suited to fields where crops are going to be grown. Below is an example of an NDVI map.
